Combining NY TZM URL Chalking event with a welcome new members meeting and Z3 poster posting promo. Two initial potlucks will be held at my place Friday evening December 17 at 7pm and one Saturday December 18 at 2pm.

Location is 350 West 43rd Street between 8th and 9th Avenue. Ask for Roberto Enamorado when you are downstairs.

We are looking for people to video, create materials and chalk sidewalks. You do not have to do all of them it all counts The goal is to have 25 people show up to each potluck. So see if you can each invite 10 people.

The topic will be, Energy – What powers machines and what powers you?

• Fund raising 9pm

• Street Activism Talk 10pm

• Hit the streets 10:30pm

And here are the notes regarding how things are done in the Toronto Chapter

Things to keep in mind

-Nature of people that come to meetings are people that have in some way been out casted due to personal views – meeting likeminded people is a comforting experience.

-To go all types of free events and target people that care about issues à any person(s) who ask a question at an event should be the first people you try to speak with to invite to a Zmeeting. à Tell them we (the group/chapter you are assisting in expanding) is interested in what they do – do not start the conversation by preaching/educating on TZM.

-Market differently to different audiences

-There is no hierarchy within the chapter only bubbles – the bubbles represent different projects that are being developed

-Have three in person meetings every month – one public meeting and two core meetings.

For Public Meetings

-Create an agenda or topic for discussion

-promote on free websites/forums/word of mouth (craigslist, facebook, schools etc)

-Have an attendance sheet and collect emails and have educational materials for attendees to read.

-Have the public meeting/event on a weeknight at a university

*Roughly 50% of the attendees for Toronto’s public meetings are new to the movement.

Toronto Zeitgeist House

The Toronto house was started by 5 members who simply got a place together.

There are plans to start a sustainable community to teach people to free themselves from the wage system. Since not only is talking about sustainability important but, working within a sustainable environment and using these concepts hands-on.

Screenings

If you go to a screening, ask the film maker if they would be interested in talking to a group about the film/topics discussed to help create awareness on the issue.

Z3

Plans are to invite media for the screening on a week night and have a Q and A following the film.

Booths will be set up for people interested in talk to members and to distribute informational materials.

The Z3 after-party will be announced to be held at a local bar or lounge following the film.

Recent Toronto Event

There is an organic farmer who wanted to set up an event to give out organic food for free. The Toronto chapter helped with the promotion and the manpower needed for the event.

Instructions: In order to get the maximum response from the establishment (doctors, teachers, politicians, police, non profits and ect…) we must address the target audience by name. Because the sound of your own name is the sweetest sound, and it automatically becomes a personal issue and therefore much higher chance of response. Please make sure that every individual is addressed by his or her name.

Because the letter is written in this way, we are only asking that every member of zeitgeist emails 10 letters (if you wish to do more that’s ok) we currently have just over 360,000 member, given that optimistically let’s say 100,000 of the members will actually do this, we can expect 1 million emails. For now that is not a great number but its ok, and it should be enough to make a commotion. If we can get 10,000 (1% of the emails) people in the educational establishment talking, they will do the marketing for us and spread our ideas.

Stage 1 we are only emailing university professors.

Stage 2 we email the media, with focus on the independent media.

Stage 3 email teachers in grade schools (1-12 grade school).

Stage 4 we email members (especially leaders) of other organizations trying to help the world.

Stage 5 we email the politicians.

Stage 6 we email doctors and lawyers (private practice establishment).

Stage 7 we email the police.

For stage 1 & 2 it is preferred that the people doing the emailing actually attend those schools, but it is not necessary.

Letter to Professors

STEP 1

Search for Universities Professors email in your area. Normally the school lists a directory of staff contact information on their websites.

STEP 2

Send the Professor an email similar to the below formats to get them to interact with the movement. ( Make sure the Professor hasn’t already been contacted by checking the SPREADSHEET that contains a list of contacted Professors )

STEP 3

Once you have contact a particular University Professor you can use this FORM to update this SPREADSHEET that will keep an updated list of all the professors and Universities that have been contacted.

STEP 4

Repeat steps 1-3 as many time as you would like.

But when I analyzed their concepts they seem to be logically correct. I’m a bit confused as to how I should proceed with what potentially can become my life’s work.
