Zeitgeist Moving Foward is a feature length documentary work which will present a case for a needed transition out of the current socioeconomic monetary paradigm which governs the entire world society. This subject matter will transcend the issues of cultural relativism and traditional ideology and move to relate the core, empirical “life ground” attributes of human and social survival, extrapolating those immutable natural laws into a new sustainable social paradigm called a “Resource-Based Economy”.

Putting The Pieces Together

November 19, 2010 in Latest News, Meet Up, Screening, Website

Hey everybody,

I want to take the time to thank you for viewing this message. Below you will find a compilation of information  provided to you by members of The Zeitgeist Movement. To get used to the great sharing capabilities of the site, place your mouse over one of the images you like in this post and drag it into one of the options provided once you start dragging the image :)

The main topics are,

  • Welcome To The Zeitgeist Movement!
  • Welcome To The Site
  • Chapter Developments
  • Black Friday Street Chalking
  • Call For Sub-chapter Coordinators, Artists, Bloggers…People From All Walks Of Life
  • Email Communications.

Welcome To The Zeitgeist Movement!

Hello!

My name is Keith, I am one of the coordinators for the New York State Chapter of the Zeitgeist movement. Thank you for signing up and joining the movement, I hope you have been able to find answers to all of your questions regarding the movement so far. Some things to get you started: There are new websites for the State as well as NYC chapter, and we are in the process of working out the kinks. If you haven’t done so already through the site, please check out the Activist Orientation Guide which is linked at the bottom of this message. This is an essential read which will help you fully understand what the movement is about and what we are trying to accomplish. Also linked is the FAQ for the Venus Project. It is accurate to say that the Zeitgeist Movement is the Activism Arm of The Venus Project, so the next step as a new member of the movement would be to explore www.thevenusproject.com and begin learning about a Resource Based Economy. Any questions or objections you may have will likely be covered in the FAQ, but if they are not feel free to ask me or any other members in our chapter.

Other steps to get you started include downloading TeamSpeak3, which is the open source communications software we use to have online conference call meetings every Sunday at 8pm. If you do live in NYC, there is a NYC subchapter meeting semi-monthly at the Sony Atrium. More information about the Sony meetings can be found at www.tzmnycity.com by clicking on the ‘Events’ link. Currently the New York State Chapter only has a local subchapter in NYC, and we are looking to expand throughout the state. If you do not live in NYC, perhaps you would like to start a chapter in you area! If so please contact me and I will discuss with you further what that involves to help you get set up.

At this time the main project for the NY chapter is preparing for the screening of the new Zeitgeist film, Zeitgeist 3: Moving Forward, which you may already know is being released in January. Our secondary projects include finishing up the new chapter sites and planning for Z-Day which is upcoming in March. Please take time to finish setting up your user profile on the site, read the orientation guide, and introduce yourself at the next teamspeak meeting. I look forward to ‘meeting’ you and working together on bringing about this transition!

Welcome To The Sites

Hey Everyone,

I just wanted to update everybody on the state of some of the sites we have been working on for the New York Chapter.

The New York State Chapter currently has the following websites up and running:

The New York State Website:

URL: TZMNYSTATE.com
UPDATE: Jacquie has been updating it but it has a forum and lots of content already.

The New York City Chapter Website:

URL: ZEITGEIST-NY.com
UPDATE: Fully functional, instructional guides for those that have difficulty utilizing the site have been, and continue to be created. Jacquie and Roberto are both admins I have walked them through the functions of the site (with some exception due to time limitations. Keith I’ll have to get to later.

The New York City Promotional Site for Activism Purpose:

URL: TZMNYCITY.com and ZNEWYORK.net ( They both link to same website but in the future either domains may be used for more specific promotional campaigns )
UPDATE: I have finished the design/development of the site as of this email, some minor changes may occur to content but format should stay the same. The site is geared towards people that will be getting promotional material during activism projects.

I have attached a flow chart to walk you through the Website Flow Chart.

Please reply with any question or concerns.

Link to Flow Chart

Thank you
- Diego

Please take a few moments to watch this tutorial on how to use the site http://zeitgeist-ny.com/blog/2010/10/19/website-walk-through-video/. Keep in mind the wiki function will not used for the time being, so disregard the info on the wiki function presented in this video. We are encouraging people to use the sites groups, blogs and forums to coordinate/promote projects and google document links for online document collaborations (and sync.in can be used for simple collaborative documents as well) within this site. The site has many features that make coordinating activities and spreading our activity on the internet with ease in a more integrated manner. Also check out http://zeitgeist-ny.com/blog/2010/11/13/brainstorming-website-structure/ Thanks

Chapter Developments

  • No Regular Communications on the ZNYC Google Group or Zlinks Google Group

Our previous means of coordinating (ZNYC@googlegroups.com) will serve as a backup to a backup if for any reason we can not communicate on the site and get a backup site up and running for long periods of time. I will be making some announcements from time to time via this email list but, it is only to make an extra effort to communicate to members who may have missed the emails. Soon after that, I will leave access for you to view conversation/resources until they are set up on the site unless otherwise notified via the website or email.

Black Friday Street Chalking

*Please refer to the “Welcome To The Sites” post, for current url’s/websites to choose from for this activity.

For all those aware of the idea I pitched, and for all those who don’t
already know.  My initial plan was to organize our ZNY chapter to do a
massive Guerrilla Marketing Campaign via CHALK.  We would go around
and tag the subways of NYC with our website/logo.  This grew with some
brainstorming into the thought of an international campaign.  One day,
and one message,

This idea is cost effective and is fully legal, due to it’s lack of
permanence,  from what I have been told.  To help lower cost dollars
to $0.00, I picked up a rock and rubbed it across the concrete.  And
sure enough, there I was on a LIRR platform writing znewyork.net in
big bold block letter.

We can do this, and should do this, on Black Friday between the hours
of 3 & 5 AM.  The cleaning crew has just finished their rounds and the
rush to begin shopping begins.

This is simple and would require very little effort.  I beg of you
all, let’s organize internationally, and flip the system on it’s head
with an informed public.

Thanks, in advance, to all of you.

BP

We can cover the most populated shopping streets and avenues of Manhattan which are Canal, 14th, 23rd, 34th, 42nd, W 57th 86th and 125th streets. Avenue wise parts of Madison, 5th, 6th, and Broadway. Each avenue or street could be done in pairs so that the south/north east/west parts of the streets and avenues are covered in one shot and you have someone right across the street should you need them for anything and for good company :) This could be done in about 1 to 2 hours once that is complete we can meet for food. Then someone can coordinate another borough they are familiar with and we can give our feedback on the campaign. Once we get our feet wet, this can be done on an ongoing basis. We can aim for ares like covering all of central park, university campuses, tourist ares etc. Those areas are always packed. lets coordinate as much as we can online, once the team is set then all each of us would need is to purchase two packs of chalk and should be good to go.

Here is a spreadsheet to coordinate the volunteers. For Manhattan, 22 volunteers would cover all areas mentioned above within that time frame. Please fill it in as soon as you know which areas you want to hit up. Chalking Starts Around 2-3am. Contact me at roberto.enamorado@gmail.com for more details.
