NYU Activism Campaign
March 22, 2010 in Communication, Meet Up by Diego Rodrigues
Teamspeak Weekly Meeting 3/21/2010
During the last Teamspeak Meeting we decided that for our next activism campaign we will be setting up a demonstration at the NYU campus. We will setup a table with poster boards highlighting different topics that would of interest to college students. We are for a way to also have a screen with a video demonstrating different technologies that many people aren’t aware of today.
For the posters, I will be taking volunteers to tackle different topics. Please leave a comment to let me know what topic/poster you want to make. Let’s try to use those posters with the folding flaps so that it can stand by itself without any support.
Volunteers so far:
- Diego – Debt
- Doraw – Unemployment
- James O\’Loughlin – Energy/Technology is hindered by profit system.
- Roberto – Energy
Topics:
- Debt – Go into money creation and how their isn’t enough money in circulation to cover the debt + interest.
- Energy – Highlight different technologies that would make our energy crisis a non-issue (geothermal).
- Constant Growth Economy – Highlight how we live in a finite planet that cannot sustain a profit driven, constant growth economy.
- Technological Unemployment - Demonstrate technologies that promise to replace human labor, and how the profit system promotes the use of such machines. Examples of technology would be the “Contourcrafting”, Electric Vehicles (low maintenance = less mechanics) , etc…
- Suggest One…
Please feel free to suggest and modify any of the existing ones. One thing to keep in mind while designing your poster boards, is to draw people into the information at an emotional level. Let’s use the same advertisement techniques used by marketing firms for a good cause.
Here is a video compilation of our last Meeting/Activism.
