Campaign to Contact University Professors
November 30, 2009 in Communication by Diego Rodrigues
Contact Campaign
Instructions: In order to get the maximum response from the establishment (doctors, teachers, politicians, police, non profits and ect…) we must address the target audience by name. Because the sound of your own name is the sweetest sound, and it automatically becomes a personal issue and therefore much higher chance of response. Please make sure that every individual is addressed by his or her name.
Because the letter is written in this way, we are only asking that every member of zeitgeist emails 10 letters (if you wish to do more that’s ok) we currently have just over 360,000 member, given that optimistically let’s say 100,000 of the members will actually do this, we can expect 1 million emails. For now that is not a great number but its ok, and it should be enough to make a commotion. If we can get 10,000 (1% of the emails) people in the educational establishment talking, they will do the marketing for us and spread our ideas.
Stage 1 we are only emailing university professors.
Stage 2 we email the media, with focus on the independent media.
Stage 3 email teachers in grade schools (1-12 grade school).
Stage 4 we email members (especially leaders) of other organizations trying to help the world.
Stage 5 we email the politicians.
Stage 6 we email doctors and lawyers (private practice establishment).
Stage 7 we email the police.
For stage 1 & 2 it is preferred that the people doing the emailing actually attend those schools, but it is not necessary.
Letter to Professors
Sincerely (Your Name)
STEP 1
Search for Universities Professors email in your area. Normally the school lists a directory of staff contact information on their websites.
STEP 2
Send the Professor an email similar to the below formats to get them to interact with the movement. ( Make sure the Professor hasn’t already been contacted by checking the SPREADSHEET that contains a list of contacted Professors )
STEP 3
Once you have contact a particular University Professor you can use this FORM to update this SPREADSHEET that will keep an updated list of all the professors and Universities that have been contacted.
STEP 4
Repeat steps 1-3 as many time as you would like.
Dear (Subject’s Name)
My name is (Your Name)
I’m emailing you today because I’m seeking your advice. I always felt deeply about helping society and I recently looked in to joining an organization that is dedicated to making this world a better place. However I’m puzzled by some of the concepts and theories they present as solutions to global problems. A lot of it seems contradictory to everything I have learned in school and in life. But when I analyzed their concepts they seem to be logically correct. I’m a bit confused as to how I should proceed with what potentially can become my life’s work. I have attached a guide that contains an overview of their ideas. More information can be found on their website: www.ZTGM.org. I would really appreciate if you could take a look at some of their ideas and advise me as to how I should proceed with my education and career.
Thank you in advance
Sincerely (Your Name)

Dear (Subject’s Name)

I understand that you are the ( insert formal profession ) at the ( organization/school )
** (I applaud the great work you did/are doing on the ( if possible insert an accomplishment they are accredited for otherwise delete the line)) **
I’m emailing you today because I’m seeking your advice. I always felt deeply about helping society and I recently inquired about an organization that is dedicated to socioeconomic change. I have considered their concepts and quite honestly they seem to be logically correct. I honestly feel that by applying some of the concepts presented to me, that it is quite possible to develop long term sustainable solutions to some of the worlds most perplexing and difficult issues.
I have attached a guide that contains an overview of their ideas. More information can be found on their website: www.ZTGM.org. I would really appreciate if you could take a look at some of their ideas and provide feedback as to how you view the material.
Thank you in advance

Couple correction suggestions (might apply to both letters):
- Zeitgeist is not an Organization, it’s a collection of ideas, a movement for awareness and a proposal for change. See if we can word that differently.
- Socioeconomic is a term, you don’t need the “/” in the word.
- The last line says “advice” and I think you mean advise.
Thank you for the edit and comment. It was really late last night and I was quite tired while making this posts.
You don’t need to defend mistakes
being wrong is good… it’s how we learn! And being ignorant isn’t bad either. We are all ignorant.
i was not really defend myself; it was more like an explanation. I really don’t care much about being wrong, like you said, thats how we learn
Just made my first mailing, Here is a copy:
Dear Christine,
My name is David McKee. I understand that you are a mathematics professor at MCC, here in Rochester…
I’m emailing you today because I’m seeking your advice. I’ve always felt deeply about helping society and I recently acquired awareness of an organisation that is dedicated to socio-economic change. I have considered their concepts and … quite honestly they seem to be logically correct. I honestly feel that by applying some of the concepts presented to me, that it is quite possible to develop long term sustainable solutions to some of the worlds most perplexing and difficult issues.
I have attached a guide that contains an overview of their ideas, but it might be less time consuming to read a few sections on their website: http://www.ztgm.org. Either way, I would really appreciate if you were to take a look at some of their ideas and provide feedback as to how you view the material.
Believe it or not, I do often contact professors, like yourself, with questions
Thank you in advance.
Sincerely,
David McKee
I’m going to blog about it in a few minutes
Let’s keep the ball rolling!
Diego, I requested permission to edit the contacts spreadsheet & add the professors that I will contact… my email is jamesszm@ymail.com so you know it is me.
Does anyone have any suggestions for what to use as a subject line without appearing like spam?
In the two Zeitgeist movies i have seen, it denies all religions in general. i would not like to argue but it seems that the movie has just describe Christianity and a bit of Judaism and denied the rest without proper research or analysis of the other religious scriptures. Again i am not trying to start an argument. i would just like to say that i see it more fair and understandable if the movie tried to deny each religion individually. I understand that that would take time, research and money. But atleast do if for the secound largest religion out there. Islam. i am a muslim and i know for a fact the good that this religion has done towards science, decrease in crime, and many other humanitarain things through out history. Now please do not judge what you see in todays Islamic countries because in reality they are no where close to a Islamic Country.
I am just a student and i am not expecting for an email replay, I just wanted to state this issue.
Thank you and Brillaint movies i am looking very forward to the third one. and i will be telling more people about this movement back home.
Thanks for your inquiry. Whether it is Christianity, Islam, Judaism, or most of the world religion, they all come from common backgrounds and have similar Sun worshiping traditions. I believe I speak for the movement when I say that the movement we are aware of the good that has come out of religion (example: Mother Theresa, M.Luther King Jr. among countless others). However, religion is a primary tool for artificial separation that has led to countless unnecessary death. We recognize that religion is not the answer, for it is based on a established world view and rarely recognizes things that are outside of their world view. I am sorry to say the construction of more churches/mosques/monasteries throughout the world wont solve the socioeconomic problems we see through out the world today. I recently traveled to my home town in Brazil and the amount of churches just in my town alone more than doubled, and yet crime rate was just as high, you couldn’t safely walk down the streets at night, I was afraid to pull out my video camera because everyone kept telling me to be careful with the attention it draws. As you may have guessed, the town I lived in is very poor in many areas and hopefully we know the behavioral affects of a deprived society:
“The ‘Merva-Fowles’ study, done at the University of Utah in the 1990s, found powerful connections between unemployment and crime. They based their research on 30 major metropolitan areas with a total population of over 80 million.
Their findings found that a 1% rise in unemployment resulted in:
a 6.7% increase in homicides;
a 3.4 % increase in violent crimes;
a 2.4 % increase in property crime.
During the period from 1990 to 1992, this translated into:
1459 additional homicides
62,607 additional violent crimes
223,500 additional property crimes”
Thanks again for your inquiry. I hope this clarification helps you.
