YES! — You turned me on to the Radio Address and I couldn’t be happier. It’s wonderful to here Peter Joseph talking (explaining, etc) about the entire movement.
To disclaim: I didn’t want to feel like I missed anything, so I searched the net to find downloads of the radio show, looking to go back as far as I could in the series. Then, after I found the source (blogtalkradio.com) I posted a link to Peter Joseph’s blogtalkradio page on the global forum. THEN, I started at square 1. I listened to the first show and I really liked it.
I encourage everyone to start at square 1 with me! Here is a link to my post on the global forum, showing everyone where to download the radio show!

Yea. That is exactly what I did, and I am glad I did because he has answered quite a great deal of questions regarding everything about the movement.
In Peter’s october 07th address when asked about the control of population Peter concluded that moving off of earth would be the only solution to a population growing beyond the carrying capacity of the earth. I fear this attitude towards population growth in the long run is unsustainable for obvious reason. Even though there is scientific evidence that the universe is expanding, the level at which population would multiply once it reached such great numbers would be astounding. As population increases so does its rate of growth. To allow the human race to grow indefinitely would be a plague to the universal balance of things. It is imperative that the movement and everyone involved understands that there is a DIRECT correlation between the amount of food available and the amount of population growth. In an experiment where there are 1000 mice given enough food for 1000 mice the population will stay in a very short distance from 1000, varying in only 10-20 mice above or below this mark. When the amount food is slowly increased to enough food for 6000 thousands mice the population will slowly increase to around that number and then fluctuate very close to exactly that benchmark. The same is true of humans. The only reason that population has increased in as incredibly unstable a way as it has in the recent history of the human beings, that is the last 20,000 years of “civilization” being the focal point to of the human population boom, is the need for city states, empires and nations to overproduce food for the sake of monetary gain. Thus, despite the inequalities in food distribution throughout all of “civilized man’s” history the increases in amounts of d food has been and will most likely always be directly correspondent to population growth. We must live in balance with the earth and the universe and that means controlling our population. This control of population is not to be systematically addressed in control of sexual activity or another surface level approach. It is not about stopping pregnancy or child birth but food control. This is further addressed in a book that i believe all members of the movement should read entitled “Ishmael” by Daniel Quinn
Population control will come through education; educated, statistically have less children. Our population will always be increasing, but the rate of increase will definitively slow down as we go further into this social and economic shift. When the systems of sustainability proposed by The Venus Project (TVP), which are primarily in harmony with the environment, are in place, we will realize that the carrying capacity of the Earth is quite large.
Energy will not be an issue; geothermal, solar, tidal, wind, will provide the population and its future population with an abundance of clean energy.
There are many different methods of generating food to sustain the current and future population by utilizing the methods proposed by TVP, including; Hydroponics, Fish Farms, etc…
Shelter will also not be an issue because we have more than enough space on earth if you include the massive oceans.
We have a LOOONNNGG way to go before we meet the Earth carrying capacity. Let’s take it one step at a time
and try and focus on supplying the current world population with their basic needs, along with all the social changes required for a Resource Based Economy.
I completely see where your coming from when you say the focus should be more on the problems of today and getting people on the basic level of decent living before dealing with issues like this. I merely wished to express a response to Peter’s statements on population growth in the address. I’d have to disagree with your statement that population will always be growing. Education and social condition definitely play a role in population growth but the most tightly correlated variable in the equation is food.
If we are ever to address population stabilization, which i believe will be a issue even within a fully resource based economy, we must approach it from the most logical stand point which is the food correlation. Controlling sexual behavior has only a limited effect on population growth where as food production is directly and unavoidable the most tightly connected to population growth. No matter how long the way till earth’s carrying capacity is met it is an important issue to address.
increase in food available=population growth. Its as simple as that honestly.
I agree with you on that, and your mice population example illustrated that fact. In addition, in the 1700′s century certain areas of the world witnessed a huge increase in population, due, in part, to the fact that the discovery of new crops from world explorations lead to countries growing multiple crops that could be harvested all year round.
I think, by the time the carrying capacity of the earth becomes an issues, we will most likely already be exploring living in outer space – thats how long we have till then. Just think about how expansive the ocean is and the possibility of creating huge floating cities that are self sustainable through the use of tidal, wind, and solar energy generation, and hydroponics crops, fish farming and etc, for nutritional needs.
Using food as a means of population control would definitely work during the transition phase.
ps: I hate the sound of “population control” and the idea of controlling people through food; to clear that up let me just say this: If, during the transition phase, people are well informed about the amount of food we are currently able to generate on a regular basis (technology will be constantly increasing production numbers) then they will naturally make informed decisions when it comes to reproduction. example: “Let’s not have 10 kids honey.” < - informed decision
